Governance Reviews
We offer comprehensive and light touch reviews of your governance framework or custom designed reviews sharply targeted on your improvement priorities.
"We liked the flexibility of the team to make the Review fit the budget and your mature approach to keeping down costs. The sense of where we are positioned compared with other organisations was useful. We appreciated your honesty and willingness to tell us what we are good at and where we could up our game. It was done in a way that was easy to accept. We have done some things already and planned for the rest – it was REAL and USEFUL" Amanda Davies, Group Chief Executive, Pobl Group

"Last night was the first Board meeting since the event and the atmosphere and quality of debate was certainly much improved. Every Board Member participated in a way they were not before the Away Day. It feels like we’ve made a step change” Julia Histon, Chief Executive, York HA
Board Seminars, Briefings and Masterclasses
Integrated Board Development Programmes
Customised, flexible in-house programmes or one off sessions, scheduled to make the most of limited board member time.
"This successful series of Masterclasses was developed to meet the needs of our Board - we were not shoehorned into a pre-existing programme. The Orbit Heart of England Board is diverse - including residents, health and local government professionals and senior people from the private sector - and every member has got something out of it. We were impressed that it offered a flexible framework which can be varied to meet individual needs - especially so with the coaching support you provided for less experienced Board members, which equipped them to participate on an equal basis. Our new Chair has been impressed by how well the programme has been received" Orbit Heart of England
Development for Board Chairs
Leadership development, mentoring and coaching from our qualified board level experienced executive coaches.
Women Lead the Board
Women Lead the Board is designed to better equip those who want to contribute to the leadership of an organisation. The aim of the Programme is to provide both a theoretical perspective to good governance and training in its practical application; it aims to enable its graduates to make valuable and strategic contributions to organisations in the not for profit sector, in particular housing.
Capacity Building for Board Members & Potential Board Members
Skilling up individuals for whom board level participation is new, this can include assessment of competence and accreditation. This programme clarifies the legal and governance issues arising from any potential conflict of roles, demystifies formal meeting and committee protocols and ‘jargon’, and builds confidence and competence to overcome barriers to full participation.
Tenant Involvement in Governance
Tenant involvement that works is an integral part of good governance. Governance is more than the Board, and Boards need access to evidence from tenants and others to obtain genuine assurance. Effective engagement of residents in scrutiny and decision making at Board level or within the wider governance structure is dependent on effective partnership working which is rooted in a shared mission and focused capacity building.
Board & Leadership 360
Reliable data about strengths and gaps is the best starting point for any development activity. We can support the design, administration and feedback from a range of 360 appraisal tools and approaches ranging from web based questionnaires, through to telephone or face to face structured interviews using a tailored framework based on your organisation’s values and desired leadership behaviours.
